We packed up and left the Blackhouses this morning. Danny drove us to the home of a local man who has spent his life making Harris tweed. He showed us his old loom and the process of making the thick fabric. It was pretty incredible how much work goes into it! He has to string some 150+ threads onto the loom that he then weaves through. It's very detailed and tedious, especially if you want to make a pattern or use several different colors.

Afterward, we drove back to Stornoway to have lunch before catching the ferry to the mainland. The weather was absolutely miserable, which meant the three hour crossing to Ullapool was very rough. Many people felt seasick and the crew were even passing out sick bags! Again, I was relieved that I don't get motion sickness! I mostly just slept. Once on the mainland, we headed to Loch Ness where we would be staying that night. Dave actually went swimming in the absolutely frigid water! Sadly, there was no sign of Nessy.
At the hostel, we met up with a second Wild in Scotland group for the swapover. You see, some of us on the tour were signed up for 6 days, and the rest were for the 9 day tour I was on. The other group was comprised of people doing either a 3 day tour or a 5 day tour. Those doing the shorter tour would return back to Edinburgh with Danny the next morning, and the rest would continue on with our 9 day group with a new driver. Confusing? I apologize. I didn't socialize much that night as I was feeling too sick. After grabbing some sausages for dinner, I went to bed.
